Monkton: Too Many Djangos

MP3: ‘Love’s Dart’ - Django Django

Were these guys any better, they would have been named three times - not only the dawning of a new age in pop nomenclature but also a goddamn mouthful - so I suggest you get in line now before that debut album sends them catastrophically trinomial. After all, who wants to be left behind the parade, sweeping up the mess of too many Djangos? No siree, not me…

(Left to right) Django, Django, Django and Django

Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves - what I mean is that I’m definitely warming nicely to the sounds of this London quartet. ‘Love’s Dart’ hits a bullseye somewhere between Jefferson Airplane and Jose Gonzalez. ‘Storm’, the upcoming single (out Monday) blends The Beach Boys, The Doors and Hot Chip into a stomping extravaganza. And ‘ZummZumm’ (you guessed it - so good they named it twice) - ‘ZummZumm’ unfolds like a battle of wits between Animal Collective and the Mario Bros. It’s hard to say who wins, but they certainly have a good scrap in the meantime.

These guys will briefly be dipping their toes into the festival circuit this summer, so keep an eye out, stay safe and don’t take drugs. Much.

Monkton x

ps. No drugs.
