Monkton: Noah and the White Elephant
Don’t pretend you haven’t noticed it lurking in the corner - a trunk-load of melody and flaking magnolia - shuffling somewhere in line between Florence’s machine, Peter’s wolf and Joe’s dangling jing jang jongs.

What I think, and this comes from the deepest reaches of my heart (‘heart’ being the NATW buzzword), is that if we can all bear to look at Lady Gaga’s annoying po-po-po-poker face then surely there’s just a little throwable caution for the Whale in the room? ‘The First Days of Spring’ is an early taste of their new offering, and I have to say that I like it. Yep, that foppish sentiment is still intact, but the glacial motion of the production has something in it - in these surroundings the message is not only forgivable, but elegantly flawed.

But then, I’m not looking for enlightenment - there are other trees to bark up if that’s what you’re after. Try a Bonsai tree, for one, and maybe wax-on-wax-off every once in a while. Just a thought…
Cheerio
